Breitling was founded in 1884 in Saint-Imier, Switzerland by Léon Breitling, who specialized early on in chronographs and timing instruments for sports, science, and industry. The brand became closely associated with aviation, co-developing pilot instruments and introducing the Navitimer in 1952 with its circular slide-rule bezel.
