Montblanc was founded in Hamburg in 1906 as a writing-instruments company, famous for its star-emblem fountain pens. It entered serious watchmaking by acquiring the historic Minerva manufacture in Villeret in 2006, and now produces in-house mechanical movements alongside its Richemont Group stablemates.
