Switzerland
Movado was founded in 1881 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland by Achille Ditesheim; the name means "always in motion" in Esperanto. It is best known for the 1947 Museum Watch, designed by Bauhaus artist Nathan George Horwitt with a single gold dot at 12 o'clock standing in for numerals, now held in the permanent collection of New York's Museum of Modern Art.
